Felon suspected of theft at Walmart arrested for possession of a weapon and warrant in Spanaway – KIRO 7 News Seattle

SPANAWAY, Wash. – On September 24th at approximately 8:40 p.m., Pierce County Sheriff's Office deputies were at the Walmart in Spanaway when loss prevention asked them for assistance in removing a man suspected of theft.

After officers saw the man removing tags from clothing, they approached the man.

According to officers, the hesitant man began walking with officers as they asked the man to go to the loss prevention office to speak before bringing the bag he was carrying to his chest.

The man reached for his bag, but before he could open it, police officers stopped him and forced him to the ground as he struggled.

The officers handcuffed the man, then took him to the office and searched his bag, where they found a gun with a 31-round magazine.

After investigating the man's criminal history, officers found an arrest warrant and a felony conviction.

The man was arrested for first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
