Police: Texas substitute teacher assaulted two students

The incident reportedly occurred at the end of the day. The teacher was not allowed to leave campus before eventually being taken into custody.

CIBOLO, Texas – A substitute teacher at Jordan Middle School in Cibolo is accused of assaulting two students and was taken into custody Thursday.

Yorllin Hernandez, 42, was a subcontractor hired by a third-party company, Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD officials said. According to the district, an incident occurred toward the end of the school day Friday in which Hernandez was blocked from leaving campus by a school resource officer while Cibolo police investigated.

He was eventually taken into custody and charged with injury to a child. Police described the students' injuries as non-life-threatening but did not provide further details about the incident.

“This news is deeply concerning as this behavior is unacceptable,” the district said in a statement. “Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority. We will continue to work with the Cibolo Police Department as they continue their ongoing investigation.”

SCUCISD added that Hernandez will “in no way” return to the district. He was booked into the Guadalupe County Jail.
