A cyclist suffered a “life-changing injury” after a hit-and-run accident.

Essex Police said the driver of a black car failed to stop at the scene after a crash on Anchor Road in Clacton.

The 30-year-old cyclist was traveling towards Old Road at around 4:40pm BST on Thursday, August 1.

Police carried out an “extensive investigation” after the cyclist suffered a serious injury to his arm, leaving him facing further surgery.

Investigating police officer Ryan Jackson said: “I know this incident happened a few weeks ago, but I would urge anyone who was in the area to come forward if they saw anything or have any information.”

“This collision has resulted in a serious injury to the cyclist which will have a long-term impact on him.

“The area is very busy at this time of day so I really hope someone can help us identify the vehicle involved.”
