UFC Paris start time, full fight card details | Moicano vs. Saint Denis

After a week-long break to recover from the fantastic UFC 306 event live from The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lands in Paris, France TODAY (Sat., September 28, 2024). to host a special “Fight Night” event at Accor Arena on ESPN+. Headlining the event will be a crucial lightweight bout Renato Moicano (No. 11) and Benoit Saint Denis (No. 12).

What's hot:

Coming off three straight wins, Renato Moicano is aiming to secure his first-ever four-fight win streak under the UFC banner to punch his ticket into the top 10 and move closer to that increasingly elusive world title. In recent years, the Brazilian bomber has also really shown his personality, which is great if you want the mighty UFC PR machine to show you some love. Combine that with wins and it's a surefire recipe for a marketable fighter that the company can support. With consecutive wins over Brad Riddell, Drew Dober and Jalin Turner, his next opponent in Benoit Saint Denis is his toughest in recent memory.

“God of War” was heading into his decisive fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 299. After all, he had won five straight, all placings, and another win would likely have punched him into the top 10 may also be included in the title consideration. But “The Diamond” proved too much for the struggling Frenchman, eventually finishing him by second-round knockout (watch it again here). Saint Denis is hungry to get back in the win column and will be aggressive, which is right up the alley from Moicano. When it hits the ground the action gets very interesting as both men are submission experts, with 10 of Moicano's 19 wins coming by submission and nine of Saint Denis' 13 wins coming this way. They could very well eliminate each other in this regard, with someone either getting knocked out in this fight or going the full 25 minutes. Whatever the case, we should have something to look forward to.

What is not:

In a featherweight bout that was supposed to be a fireworks display, Joanderson Brito And William Gomis will discard in the main card action. The two men were involved in an interesting stardown at the weigh-in, with Brito shaking Gomis' hand before pulling it down firmly in an awkward encounter. If you ask me, that's a pretty dirty move because it really wasn't necessary if you wanted to be cordial. Additionally, a sudden jolt like this can result in a listless shoulder sprain. That's why it's on my “what not” list because it was inappropriate on Brito's part. Still, soon enough they will be able to pay off everything they have.

A bantamweight fight in between Taylor Lapilus And Felipe Lima was planned for this event. before Lima pulled out of the bout for unknown reasons and was eventually replaced by Vince Moraleswho enters the short-term bout with a five-fight winning streak on the regional circuit. In his first run with the resurgence from 2018 to 2022, Morales posted a subpar record of 3-5, which ultimately led to his release. Now “Vandetta” has a second chance to make things right and impress the UFC brass. As for Lapilus, he is 2-1 so far in his young UFC career and is coming off a win over the longtime veteran. Cody Stamann.

Injuries:

Former women's featherweight world champion, Germaine de RandamieShe was forced out of her fight against them Nora Cornolle with multiple injuries (broken finger and broken foot). As a result, the former Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) women's bantamweight champion, Jacqueline CavalcantiShe steps in to fill the gap. A featherweight fight in between Morgan Charriere And AJ Cunningham was scheduled for this event before Cunningham was forced to withdraw from the bout due to an undisclosed injury and was replaced by Gabriel Miranda.

New Blood:

Ivan Erslan is the only newcomer on this map that he faces Ion Cutelaba. Erslan comes from the KSW organization and he has turned heads during his time there as his last nine wins have come via stoppage. He faces a tough test in his UFC debut as Cutelaba is as experienced as can be with 16 fights in the Octagon. However, “The Hulk” has seen better days as he is just 1-4 in his last five fights.

This is what the “Prelims” look like:

Gabriel Miranda, who will make his long-awaited return to action after a year out and was last seen in defeat Shane Young by submission in September 2023, will compete against each other Morgan Charriere. After storming out of the gate with a win Manolo Zecchini In his UFC debut, “The Last Pirate” lost to Jose Mariscal by split decision in his sophomore year.

In the women's bantamweight division, Jacqueline Cavalcanti, who is currently riding a five-fight win streak and has won back-to-back in her first two UFC outings, will face Nora Cornolle, who also won her first two fights with the promotion. This run saw their winning streak increase to eight straight wins overall, including seven by stoppage.

Men's flyweight Daniel Barez And Victor Altamirano will face off in a battle between two men who desperately need victories. Altamirano currently has two fights under his belt, while Barez came up short in his UFC debut after being strangled by him Jafel Filho in the very first round (see it again here). A 2-0 loss in the first two UFC fights is not ideal. So if he doesn't want his UFC career to be over before it really begins, he needs a good winning performance.

A tremor Ailin Perez missed the 136-pound limit for her women's bantamweight bout Darya Zheleznyakova by half a pound, and it will cost them 20 percent of their wallet. Perez has won three fights in a row, and even if she wins her fourth straight, the scale error won't help her. Nevertheless, she wants to secure another win against “Iron Lady”, who made up for her UFC debut with a loss Montserrat Rendon by unanimous decision earlier this year.

It starts with a 155-pound affair between two young prospects Bolaji Oki And Chris Duncanwho is trying to get back on the podium after his four-fight winning streak was broken by Manuel Torres earlier this year. Oki is on a nine-fight winning streak and won his Octagon debut earlier this year by defeating Timothy Cuamba via split decision.

Who urgently needs a win:

Da Woon Jung He started his UFC career 4-0-1 but has declined since then. In fact, “Sseda” has lost his last three fights and, thanks to this, was stopped in two of those contests Carlos Ulberg And Dustin Jacoby. Now Jung is in a situation where he absolutely has to win when facing the red-hot opponents Oumar Sywho is undefeated at 10-0. It's a strange duel to say the least, but Jung has a great chance to set things right here.

There are a total of 14 battles on this map. In the Co-Man event Brendan Allen And Nassourdine Imavov will tango in a crucial middleweight bout. Imavov is currently ranked No. 4 in the division, thanks in large part to his controversial knockout win over the former title contender Jared Cannonier (which you can see here). He will look to extend his winning streak to three in a row to get his name into the championship discussion against a man who has been hotly sought after over the past three years, winning seven straight. With a win, “All In” breaks into the top 5 and is one step closer to a chance at a title and perhaps a settled fight against it Marvin Vettori instead of taking it to the streets.

At welterweight Bryan Battle is looking for a win after his last fight against Ange Loosa was ruled a no-contest (NC) due to an accidental eye poke. Previously, Battle had won three straight, increasing his UFC record to 5-1-1. Another win or two and Battle could find himself in the top 15. Standing in his way, however, is Kevin Jousset, who enters the fight on a five-fight winning streak, including back-to-back victories under the UFC umbrella.

Getting started on the main card will be an easy fight between Tariffs Ziam And Matt Frevola. Ziam is on a three-fight win streak and defeat Michal Figlak, Jai Herbert And Claudio Puelles. Meanwhile, his opponent suffered a headbutt knockout defeat against event headliner Benoit Saint-Denis (see again here). This defeat halted Frevola's rise as he was on an impressive three-fight winning streak before facing the Frenchman.
