Evansville man accused of entering victim's home and stealing expired credit cards

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A 33-year-old Evansville man was arrested Friday evening after police said he went into a person's home without their permission.

At approximately 5 p.m., Vanderburgh County sheriff's deputies were called to the 5200 block of Oak Hill Road and spoke with a homeowner.

According to an affidavit, the victim told officers she heard a rattle coming from the back of the house.

The victim says she said “hello” and then saw a man come in the back door on a bicycle.

The victim says the man, later identified as Geoffrey L. Connolly, responded “Hello!”

When he saw them, officers said Connolly ran out of the house and headed south with another man.

The victim told authorities she didn't know either man and didn't know they were in her dumpster.

According to VCSO, the victim had been cleaning her house and discarded several items, including a bag of expired credit cards.

Shortly thereafter, officers found two men matching the suspect's description walking south on Oak Hill Road.

Connolly told officers he and his friend searched the dumpster outside the victim's home and found two credit cards.

The affidavit states that Connolly denied speaking to the victim and said he did not go to her house.

Officers said they found two of the victim's credit cards in his pocket.

Connolly's boyfriend was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Geoffrey Connolly was arrested and charged with theft and burglary of a dwelling.

He is being held in jail without bail.
