Two arrested in South Side burglary | Local News

Two South Side residents are in custody and police are searching for the identity of a third accomplice, all accused of breaking into an apartment in the 700 block of South Mill Street Thursday afternoon.

New Castle police arrested Eugene Lee Krauter, 18, and Deonna Brown, 19, both of whom live at the same residence where the reported burglary occurred.

According to a criminal complaint, a couple contacted police to report that their back door had been kicked in and that their DVD and CD players were missing.

Police said a Ring camera captured footage of an older model black Mustang pulling up and three people exiting it. A man identified as Krauter approached a third man named “Clayton” and told him to “kick the door down or whatever,” the report said.

Police said “Clayton” kicked in the door and he and Krueter walked out of the apartment into theirs with items, the report said. One of the items appeared to be a stereo system.

The camera also showed Brown standing near the trunk of the Mustang as the men loaded a DVD player and a silver component into it. The resident identified the three as tenants upstairs.

Krauter, the driver and owner of the Mustang, is charged with burglary, trespassing, larceny, criminal mischief and driving without a license.

Brown is charged with criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, trespassing, receiving stolen property and larceny, and criminal mischief.

Both were arraigned by District Judge Melissa A. Amodie, who remanded them to the Lawrence County Jail on $10,000 bail each.

Police said charges will be filed against “Clayton” pending further identification of his identity.

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty or adjudicated in court.
