Making the most of road trips, believing in the process and moving forward with it

Sometimes you're just ready to pull down the blinds, lock the doors behind you, and take a trip with your boys. It's not hard to understand where Jahmal Banks is coming from.

The Huskers are looking forward to a change of scenery as they travel to West Lafayette for their 11 a.m. kickoff against Purdue on Saturday.

“We’re excited to get going, that’s for sure,” said Banks. “We have been here for four weeks. I'm looking forward to just taking the bus to the airport with the boys, getting on the plane, being in a different hotel and in a different city. That will play a big role in retention.” “

Nebraska was just 1-4 on the road a season ago, with three of those four losses coming by a point or less. With five of the last eight regular season games played on the road at Memorial Stadium, the Huskers will need to show they can thrive in unfamiliar environments to have the team they want.

“You’ll never be a relevant team in the Big Ten if you can’t win on the road. “You go into hostile environments, you travel, you stay in a small hotel, there are two of you guys – it's just different, right?” Husker head coach Matt Rhule said Thursday.

“I think I said last week, 'Learn to win.' Maybe I should change my mind and learn how to win at this level. I think part of it is playing at the level you need to to beat someone.

Nash Hutmacher is also happy with the 11 a.m. kick-off. He doesn't mind sitting around all day.

As for the venue: “It’s always about us, it’s never about where we are. We can be anywhere. We will compete. That's what I love about this team. It doesn't matter where we play.” . We're going to go out and compete.
