Projected Illinois basketball roster with the addition of Brandon Lee

Starter: Kylan Boswell (SR)

If Kylan Boswell has a big season in 2024-25, he'll go to the NBA. Since he is not expected to be selected in the 2025 NBA Draft, I will bring Boswell back to the program for next season.

In my opinion, Boswell was the greatest offseason addition to the Illinois basketball program. I know other players have been highly praised, but Boswell brings a lot to the table. He's an incredible scorer, but his leadership, experience and backcourt skills will stand out most. This kid will be great for Orange and Blue.

Backup: Brandon Lee (FR)

I believe Illinois found even more depth with Wednesday's big signing of Brandon Lee at No. 2. Lee can come in and make an immediate impact. He still needs to improve his shooting a bit, but he is on the verge of becoming a great scorer.

Lee is a four-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 98 player in the 2025 class. He can put points on the board quickly and has the ability to get to the free throw line. I'm excited to see what Brad Underwood will do with Lee's game. Look for massive development in a short period of time. I think Lee is the primary replacement for the No. 2 guard as a freshman.
