Firefighters save buildings after fierce fighting overnight

The Kern County Fire Department and the Bakersfield Fire Department worked together to prevent a devastating fire called the Quinn Incident from destroying two buildings near North Bakersfield.

The Kern County Fire Department said the fire was originally a grass fire near the Quinn Road intersection. and Lencioni Ave. around 2:30 a.m

When the KCFD arrived, firefighters realized the situation was far more serious and the flames had the potential to cause damage to multiple businesses.

The fire burned vehicles, ropes and plastics stored outside, creating an extremely dangerous situation, according to KCFD. Shortly thereafter, both the second and third alarms were activated, resulting in 42 KCFD firefighters and 21 BFD firefighters being deployed.

After hours of battling the heat and flames, the fire was mostly contained to the outside of the buildings. Everything inside was spared from destruction.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
