34-year-old man arrested after stabbing and stealing from victim

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) – A 34-year-old man was arrested after stabbing a victim Friday evening.

Officers responded to an assault in the area of ​​351 Whalley Avenue, the L and A Deli, at 10:18 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located 34-year-old Yannick Williams, who had reportedly been hit in the head with a bottle.

Williams was treated by AMR and the fire department.

A knife with blood was found in William's sock.

At the same time, officers were dispatched to a random stabbing victim at Yale New Haven Hospital's St. Raphael campus.

The victim, a 27-year-old New Haven resident, reported he was stabbed by Williams.

The victim told officers that he and several friends were hanging out with Williams when Williams became disrespectful.

According to the victim, he used a bottle to defend himself when Williams stabbed and robbed the victim before fleeing the scene.

The victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

Williams was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree theft.

He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
