Victor Salazar-Guarache pleads guilty to murder in the fatal Topgolf shooting

A 27-year-old man who shot two of his Topgolf colleagues in December 2023, killing one of them, has pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder.

Victor Salazar-Guarache reached a plea agreement Thursday in Adams County District Court, according to court records.

According to court records, Salazar-Guarache pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. With the agreement, charges of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder and a sentence enhancement for violent crimes were removed from his case.

The Topgolf dishwasher, then 26, was arrested in December 2023 after a midnight shooting in a parking lot at Thornton Topgolf at 16011 Grant St. left a man dead, police said.

Police said Salazar-Guarache got into an argument with one of his Topgolf colleagues, got out early and waited in the parking lot for an hour to ambush him.

Bryce Holden, a 22-year-old dishwasher from Topgolf, was shot multiple times and died from his injuries, police said. The Topgolf kitchen manager who left the house with Holden was also shot.

As Holden and the manager exited the building and entered the parking lot, Salazar-Guarache got out of his car and fired twelve shots at the pair. He continued shooting even after Holden fell, according to his affidavit.
