School bus aide arrested for alleged sex crimes

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WWBT) – The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office has a man in custody after he was accused of inappropriate touching of a minor.

On Thursday, September 26, authorities arrested 22-year-old Miguel Velasquez Velasco after school officials notified investigators of suspicions of inappropriately touching a student on a school bus.

After a joint investigation with detectives and school officials, extensive evidence emerged that Velasquez Velasco assaulted three different children on the school bus on September 26th. The victims are students with disabilities between the ages of 4 and 5.

Velasquez Velasco was charged with 8 counts of aggravated sexual battery of a child, 2 counts of indecent imprisonment of a child while in custody, and 1 count of attempted sodomy of a child. He is being held without bail at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Police say Velasquez Velasco is a U.S. citizen and has no known criminal history.

The case remains under investigation.
