A fiery single-vehicle crash closed I-65 South near downtown

This is the second accident of the day to shut down the highway involving a semi-truck.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Authorities have closed a portion of I-65 South near the Kennedy Bridge after a fiery crash.

According to MetroSafe, the single-vehicle accident involving the semi-truck occurred Saturday evening at mile 136.6 just past the Kennedy Bridge.

The left shoulder, all lanes and the right shoulder are currently closed.

The Louisville Fire Department is on scene and working to extinguish the fire.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured in the incident.

This is the second accident on I-65 on Saturday. Earlier in the day, a tractor-trailer accident resulted in lane closures near the Kennedy Bridge after the tractor-trailer's load spilled onto the roadway.

LMPD encourages motorists to find alternative routes if traveling from southern Indiana.

They said access to I-64 East and I-71 North from I-65 South will open soon, but southbound traffic will be closed for a while.
