Man, 32, accused of attacking seniors in Mississauga park

A 32-year-old man is now charged with two unprovoked attacks on seniors at a Mississauga park.

According to Peel Regional Police, the two elderly men were attacked just over a week apart and investigators believe the same perpetrator was behind both incidents.

In the first incident, police believe a 73-year-old Mississauga man was walking in the area of ​​Applewood Hills Trail and Bloor St. shortly after 1 p.m. on Sept. 19 when a man approached him from behind and grabbed him hit with a weapon.

The attacker then fled the area.

The senior was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In the second incident, a 77-year-old Mississauga man was walking in the same area – near Applewood Hills Trail and Bloor St. – when a man approached from behind and hit him with a gun around 12:30 a.m. Friday.

The attacker then fled the area.

The elderly man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators then identified a suspect and arrested him on Friday.

Marcin Golebiowski of Mississauga is charged with aggravated assault, failure to comply with a court order and assault with a weapon.
