Ohio State vs. Michigan State live stream, where to watch, TV channel, prediction, selection, distribution, match odds

No. 3 Ohio State opens its Big Ten Conference schedule with a trip to East Lansing, Michigan, where the undefeated Buckeyes face the Michigan State Spartans. It was an impressive start to the season for Ohio State University, which breezed through its non-conference schedule and barely broke a sweat.

Maybe the Buckeyes' first road game of the season against a 3-1 Michigan State team will provide a little more resistance?

Recent history suggests this is probably not the case!

Michigan State won three of the five meetings between these programs from 2011 to 2015, but only the Buckeyes have been there since then. Ohio State has not only won the last eight meetings, but has done so with an average of 30.4 points.

What might work in Michigan State's favor is the fact that it has faced Big Ten competition before, coming off a 27-24 road win over Maryland in Week 2. The Spartans suffered a 23-19 road loss to Boston College last week.

Ohio State vs. Michigan State: What you need to know

Ohio State outscored its non-conference opponents 157-20: I mentioned that the Buckeyes rarely broke a sweat on their non-conference record, and when they did, it was only when sprinting long distances en route to scoring touchdowns. Only Marshall managed to score a touchdown against the Buckeyes (two at that), but no one ever managed to hold on to that touchdown. It is the first time since 1919 that Ohio State has won its first three games of the season by at least 35 points.

Michigan State has more turnovers than any other team in the Big Ten: It's not a category you want to lead anyone in, but the Spartans enter the game with 10 turnovers on the season. In addition to being the highest ranked team in the Big Ten, it is ranked 127th out of 134 teams in the country. It's the path that teams with young quarterbacks often take. Aidan Chiles is a talented QB with a special arm, but he has thrown seven interceptions this season while only scoring four touchdowns.

Ohio State has won 42 straight times against unranked opponents: It's a statistic that doesn't bode well for the Spartans here. It is the longest active streak among FBS programs and the third longest of the last 30 seasons. The last loss Ohio State suffered against a team without one of those cool numbers next to its name was against Purdue in 2018. The Buckeyes were beaten 49-20 by the Boilermakers. Although they won the Big Ten that year, the loss kept them out of the College Football Playoff. Instead, they defeated Washington 28-23 in the Rose Bowl.

Ohio State vs. Michigan State prediction, tips

Michigan State will be the best team Ohio State has played yet, but I don't think we've gotten a real glimpse of Ohio State's potential. We've only seen a facade of what the Buckeyes' new offense will look like under Chip Kelly, and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles hasn't been forced to dig deep into his playbook either. This last part concerns me when it comes to Aidan Chiles and his propensity to turn the ball over. Pick: Ohio State -24
