Clemson releases statement on decision to host game and how it helps Helene victims

Clemson University released a statement about the decision to host Saturday's football game after Helene moved across the state, talking about how it helps the community. Here is Clemson's full statement: “The decision to host Saturday's game came after a detailed assessment of the impact of the storm, with a primary focus on the ability to safely accommodate our opponents and fans on campus.” Clemson and Clemson University officials and first responders across the state have worked tirelessly on their recovery efforts so far. We look forward to supporting the community's recovery efforts.” The university also released the following about how it is helping the community: “Clemson University will host Littlejohn Coliseum and Snow Family Outdoor Fitness on Sunday, September 29th and Wellness Complex open. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for community members and city residents in need of respite after the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Additionally, the Hendrix Student Center is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the community to find a cool spot, charge electronic devices, and access public WiFi. Littlejohn Coliseum will feature power plants, access to WiFi, limited food and beverages at select concession stands, and limited showers (6 total) for members of the community. In the “Snow Family” outdoor fitness and wellness complex, four showers are available for use by the whole family, including accompanied minors.

The university also released the following about how it helps the community:

“Clemson University will open Littlejohn Coliseum and the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex on Sunday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to community members and city residents in need of respite following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Additionally, The Hendrix Student Center will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. for the community to find a cool spot, charge electronic devices, and access public WiFi. Littlejohn Coliseum features power plants, access to WiFi, as well as limited food and beverages at select concession stands and limited number of showers (6 total) for members of the community. The Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex has 4 showers for use by the entire family, including accompanied minors.
