Arrested in Healdsburg for suspected drunk driving

According to Healdsburg police, a motorcyclist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, resulting in a crash that injured him and the driver of another vehicle Thursday.

The motorcyclist, identified by police as Glenn Merrifield, 50, of Windsor, was taken to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The other driver suffered moderate injuries and was treated at the scene, police said in a Facebook post.

Multiple 911 calls reported the collision at Healdsburg Avenue and Parkland Farms Boulevard just before 12:20 p.m., police said.

Officers obtained a search warrant to draw blood from the motorcyclist while he was at the hospital, the post said. After investigating, officers believed alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Due to the extent of the motorcyclist's injuries, police released him on a citation with a later court date, the post said.

The Healdsburg Police Department was assisted by Bell's Ambulance, Healdsburg Fire and “Good Samaritans,” the post said.
