Murder investigation uncovers loan fraud, seven people arrested

Late Sher Khan had been mysteriously missing from his residence since September 14 and his brother Ejaz Khan had lodged a complaint about his disappearance with the Hasanganj police on September 16. His mutilated body was found on September 26 at an abandoned place in the jungle area of ​​Kukral. His brother established the identity of the deceased using his voter ID card and an iron plate fixed in one of his legs. The missing report was later amended under the charge of murder under Section 103 (I) of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita.

Lucknow Additional Assistant Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Central, Manisha Singh said that seven persons have been identified as Ravi Valmiki (50), Kapil Valmiki (33), Manish Gaur (35), Brijesh Sharma (43), Vicky Rastogi ( 34) and The two brothers Amit Soni (50) and Sohit Soni (35) were arrested in the murder.

The ADCP said that all the accused as well as the deceased were part of the racket involving fraudulently taking loans and issuing finance in the names of various people using identity proofs such as Aadhar cards. She said deceased Sher Khan provided Aadhar cards of various people through which the accused got approved loans.

The ADCP said the accused revealed that they murdered the victim as he threatened to expose the connection if they did not increase his commission for providing Aadhar cards of various people for committing the fraud.

She said the accused invited Sher Khan to an alcohol party on September 14 and strangled him after making him drunk before dumping the body in Kukrail jungle area. Police will continue to investigate the details of the scam, the official added. .
