Israel Fights for the West – Editorial

In the dark underworld of terror and resistance, Hassan Nasrallah was seen as a symbol of unrelenting hostility towards Western society. For more than three decades, Hezbollah's leader brazenly expressed his contempt for the United States and its allies and regularly made threats that resonated far beyond Lebanon's borders.

In one of his many diatribes, Nasrallah claimed: “As long as there is imperialism in the world, lasting peace is impossible.” Although couched in the language of resistance, this statement reflected a broader, more dangerous ideology that cast the West as an eternal enemy of the Islamic world.

Nasrallah's rhetoric was not just empty talk: it was a call to arms for those who despised the principles of democracy and freedom. He often took direct aim at the United States, accusing it of being the real aggressor in the Middle East and warning that the “Axis of Resistance” would not back down unless Israel and its Western allies were subdued.

His propaganda painted the image of the West as a corrupt force, with Nasrallah famously declaring: “There is no solution without pressure on Israel to end the war on Gaza,” openly calling on Western powers to acknowledge their own complicity in regional wars to face conflicts.

Nasrallah's words were not limited to rhetoric. Under his leadership, Hezbollah waged a relentless campaign of terror against Israel and Western targets worldwide. From attacks on U.S. Marines in Beirut in the 1980s to supporting Hamas attacks on Israeli civilians, his actions underscored a broader anti-Western agenda. Nasrallah's strategy was clear: to undermine Western influence in the Middle East and promote an Islamist vision in which democracy had no place.

His death at the hands of Israeli forces marks the end of a dangerous era, but more importantly, it symbolizes Israel's crucial role in the global fight for freedom.

Israel's Friday attack on Nasrallah and his top commanders was not just a tactical victory – it was a pivotal moment in the ideological battle between democracy and extremism. By toppling Nasrallah, Israel has once again shown that it is at the forefront of protecting not only its own citizens, but the values that underpin the entire Western world. Unlike many Western nations that hesitate, debate and often delay decisive action, Israel acted quickly and decisively, eliminating a key figure who had become a global symbol of terror.

As Israel resolutely defends democracy, the broader free world must recognize and support its efforts. For too long, Western nations have avoided the threat of leaders like Nasrallah, constrained by political correctness and fear of backlash. In contrast, Israel's courageous actions have proven time and time again that the fight against extremism requires more than words – it requires determination, action and an unwavering commitment to the principles of freedom.

Nasrallah's death is a triumph for all who value democracy over dictatorship

Nasrallah's death is more than a victory for Israel: it is a triumph for every nation that values democracy over dictatorship and freedom over tyranny. But the West's muted reaction to this victory highlights a worrying discrepancy. By not publicly celebrating Israel's success in dismantling a terrorist network that despises the essence of Western values, the free world risks undermining the sacrifices made by those on the front lines.

US President Joe Biden rightly praised Israel on Saturday. “Hassan Nasrallah and the terrorist group he led, Hezbollah, were responsible for the killings of hundreds of Americans during a four-decade reign of terror,” he said. “His death in an Israeli airstrike is a sign of justice for his many victims, including thousands of Americans, Israelis and Lebanese civilians.

“The United States fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and all other Iranian-backed terrorist groups,” Biden said firmly.

Israel's actions serve as a reminder that defending democracy is not a regional matter but a global imperative. The elimination of Nasrallah is a victory for the entire free world, and it is time for the West to recognize Israel's role not just as a regional ally but as a critical defender of the democratic order. The fight against extremism continues, and only through unity and support can the ideals of the free world continue to thrive.
