From Magee Police Chief Denis Borges:

At approximately 3:38 a.m. Friday, the Magee Police Department received a call reporting that juveniles may be with handguns and rifles at the Circle K gas station on Main Ave. be armed. Officers arrived at the scene at 3:43 a.m. and made contact with two juveniles. After further investigation, it turned out that the teenagers, both 17 years old, had two high-powered rifles hidden in their pants. Of note, one of the rifles had an 8-inch barrel, which is less than the 16-inch minimum length required by federal law.

Both juveniles were charged and processed by Magee Police before their release.

It is important to note that they were given to their parents. Young people who endanger the safety of others should be held responsible like any other person. I want the citizens of Magee to know that our department will always keep you safe. Rest assured, our officers will continue to work diligently to keep you and your family safe.
