TOOELE, Utah, September 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – A 51-year-old man was arrested in Tooele on Wednesday after a Tooele City Police officer noticed him on a sidewalk and knew he was on a probation and parole warrant Adults were wanted.

The man arrested was Chad Eugene, 51.

“During my arrest and search of Mr. Ginter, I found three katana-style swords that he had hidden in his pants. I noticed that these three swords had sharp edges and were dangerous weapons. Additionally, during my search, I found a glass pipe with burnt drug residue and a plastic pipe commonly used to smoke illegal substances.”

Ginter was taken to the detention center where he “told officers that he had intentionally taken three fentanyl pills after he saw the officers and knew they were going to arrest him.” When Mr. Ginter took these pills, he intentionally destroyed evidence, which would have led to increased charges against him due to his criminal history.

“I determined that Mr. Ginter was a restricted person because he was on Class A probation and was prohibited from possessing dangerous or deadly weapons.”

Ginter was charged with investigating:

  • Three counts of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, a third-degree felony
  • Obstruction of justice, a felony of the third degree
  • Use or possession of drug paraphernalia is a Class B misdemeanor

If the case goes to trial, the District Attorney's Office will determine the charges and their severity.
