Man accused of stalking his ex faces awaiting trial

A 43-year-old East Suffolk man accused of stalking his former partner will have to wait until May 2026 for trial due to a backlog of cases in the criminal justice system.

Colin Barnes, of Minden Road, Lowestoft, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday.

He pleaded not guilty to stalking his former partner between January and June this year, which caused her distress and distress.

He allegedly told her he would kill her if she had another man in her bed, waited for her to return from a night out, approached her while she was at a nightclub, went to her home address and sent a food delivery to her She asked her if she needed money, sent her an email and gave her an ultimatum to rekindle their relationship.

Barnes' trial, expected to last five days, will take place during a two-week caution list starting May 5, 2026.

Recorder Sarah Przybylska allowed Barnes' conditional bail to continue.
