The officer was reportedly dragged for 10 meters before colliding with another vehicle. The police have confiscated the car and the driver is currently on the run.

A surveillance camera recorded the moments before a speeding car dragged the 30-year-old police officer across the street.

The footage captured at 2.16am today shows the speeding car close behind the bike of constable Sandeep, who later succumbed to his head injuries.

Sandeep was tasked with investigating a spate of thefts in the area. He was cycling in civilian clothes when a fast-moving WagonR tried to overtake him.

The driver was driving recklessly, prompting Sandeep to ask him to slow down. Suddenly, the car accelerated and hit Sandeep's bike from behind, dragging him and the bike for about 10 meters.

Sandeep was rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to another facility where he was declared dead.

According to police, there were two passengers in the car who fled the scene after the incident. The vehicle has been impounded and police are actively searching for the suspects. A murder case has been filed in connection with the incident.

The Delhi Police has confirmed that the officer is survived by his mother, wife and a five-year-old son.

Quote from Senior Police Officer Jimmy Chiram: NDTV reported that Sandeep was on patrol duty when a WagonR tried to overtake him at high speed.

After a possible verbal altercation, the driver accelerated and hit Sandeep's bike from behind, dragging him for about 10 meters before colliding with another vehicle, the report added.

This incident adds to the growing number of road rage cases in the Delhi-NCR region, which has witnessed a worrying rise in the last few years. Conflicts arising from minor traffic accidents have resulted in serious injuries and deaths.

Last month, a 32-year-old autorickshaw driver was brutally attacked after his vehicle came into contact with a car in Faridabad, resulting in his death.
