Man arrested after two middle school students overdosed on magic mushrooms

COLORADO SPRINGS (WKRC) – Police organized a fake mushroom sale to catch a man who allegedly sold magic mushrooms to two middle school students.

On Tuesday, two middle school students were hospitalized and police said the students “experienced adverse health effects, which would be the technical definition of an overdose,” according to PEOPLE.

According to PEOPLE, during the “drug overdose investigation,” authorities learned that the children had allegedly purchased mushrooms from 21-year-old Damian Lee Solano.

According to PEOPLE, Colorado Springs police then posed as one of the children who bought the hallucinogens to organize a fake mushroom sale and arrest Solano. Solano had about two ounces of psilocybin mushrooms on him when he was arrested.

Solano's first court appearance was scheduled for Oct. 4.
