Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff orders Whataburger during the Texas campaign

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff was in Texas this week as part of the presidential campaign for Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, and of course he had Whataburger. Emhoff and former U.S. Representative and former gubernatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke stopped by the fast-food chain Texas-forever in Austin for lunch on September 23.

Emhoff shared a social media video from his visit in which he ordered the No. 2 combo (the double-meat Whataburger with fries and a drink) without pickles and with additional onion rings. He also looked forward to the spicy ketchup and shared his drink mix: two-thirds Diet Coke and one-third regular Coke. (He chose not to get Dr. Pepper, even though O'Rourke alerted him to the shake-up.) He also posed for photos with staff and guests.

statesman reported that they went to a location “two blocks east of Interstate 35 in southeast Austin,” which appeared to be the East Riverside Restaurant in East Oltorf.

It makes sense that O'Rourke would take Emhoff to Whataburger — he's a well-known fan of the Texas-born restaurant chain and orders cheeseburgers without tomatoes.
