Man arrested for murder after roommate dies in Denver

The man died Friday at a motel at Vasquez Boulevard and 52nd Avenue in north Denver, police said.

DENVER — A man was arrested on murder charges after his roommate died at a north Denver motel Friday evening, Denver police said.

Police said around 10:30 p.m. Friday, someone called 911 to report a medical emergency and possible drug overdose at a motel on Vasquez Boulevard near the intersection of 52nd Avenue. First responders attempted life-saving medical aid, but the man died at the scene, police said. His name has not yet been released.

An autopsy was carried out on the man on Saturday. Police said the investigation found evidence that the man suffered injuries “consistent with significant trauma.”

The victim's roommate, 28-year-old Dakotah Lulei, was arrested Saturday in connection with the man's death. He is charged with second-degree murder and assault.

Police said the victim and suspect lived in the same room at the motel.

Investigators have not released any information about how the man died, and they are still working to determine what led to his death.
