NASCAR News: Josh Berry Angry After Car Was Denied From Racing Following Accident – 'Screwed!'

Josh Berry's frustration boiled over after his No. 4 Ford was controversially retired following a Lap 1 accident in the opening round of 12 at Kansas Speedway. NASCAR officials decided that Berry's race was over due to his car's multiple flat tires, a decision made in strict compliance with the rules.

Berry and his crew were forced to question the decision, seeing it as an inconsistent application of the rules that cost them crucial points and another chance for a better result in an already challenging season.

Berry's car was involved in an early accident in which he had four flat tires, effectively disabling his vehicle. According to NASCAR rules, any car that is involved in an accident and does not make it back to pit road due to flat tires is automatically eliminated from the race.

This rule became clear when Berry's car lay helpless on the track.

“NASCAR reiterates the rule: If a car is involved in an accident and has flat tires and cannot back up, it is out of the race. It can only be towed for new tires if it is a non-contact spin,” explained Jeff Gluck of The Athletic, clarifying the regulations.

Rodney Childers, Berry's crew chief, expressed his frustration with NASCAR's decision.

“I've seen a lot of things in my 25 years in the Cup Series, but this is the worst thing I've ever seen or dealt with. All we needed were tires with air in them. And how often.” We drive cars with drugs into the pits to put tires on them. Why today?!” Childers published (below).

Berry's account of the incident expressed his frustration as he expected to be taken to the pits for a tire change.

“We got grazed, spun and had four flat tires. I assumed they would tow the car to the pits, which is what I requested, and then they dropped my window net and told me to get out. “Rodney” told me to stay inside because we just needed tires.

“They told me to get out. Then they dragged me to the campsite so I was just out there chilling with the fans. At that point they said they had to get a rollback and eventually they let me out. Rodney.” I tried to talk to someone but couldn't reach anyone.

“I don't know what's wrong with me. I saw a lot of cars being towed to the pits and tires being put on. So I don't know if I'm missing something or if something was different than normal. But.” “It was definitely an experience,” explained Berry.

This incident adds to an already difficult season for the driver, who currently sits 24th in the points standings. His recent performance was disappointing, as he finished 22nd or worse in seven consecutive races. This latest setback only adds to the feeling of frustration and desperation as the team searches for better results.
