69-year-old man arrested after stabbing on Nuuanu Avenue; Victim hospitalized | Crime and courts

HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a stabbing incident that occurred on Nuuanu Ave. was reported.

On Saturday, September 28th at around 6:30 p.m. on Nuuanu Ave. 1511 EMS responded to the scene. Paramedics used their advanced trauma skills to stabilize a 37-year-old man who had a stab wound.

The emergency services took the 38-year-old to a nearby accident hospital, where he was admitted in a serious condition.

HPD reported that the suspect, Tony Bumphus, 69, had gotten into a verbal argument with a man when Bumphus stabbed him in the left thigh.

At 6:48 p.m., HPD arrested 69-year-old Tony Bumphus for assault on the 2nd floor.
