Lee's Summit suspect wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping has been arrested

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) – Police have arrested a man wanted on attempted murder and kidnapping charges in Lee's Summit.

The Johnson County, Missouri, Sheriff's Office said officers arrested the suspect as he drove on Route 50 from the Lee's Summit area to Warrensburg.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect drove away.

Deputies joined Warrensburg Police Department officers to install road spikes on the highway. The suspect struck the spikes as his vehicle entered Warrensburg but attempted to continue driving with underinflated tires.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, the suspect rammed an officer's patrol car at one point.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to Warrensburg with a device called a “Grappler.” Officers used the equipment to stop the suspect's vehicle.

The suspect eventually lost control of the car and the vehicle stalled. Investigators said they found a juvenile in the car. They also found a handgun inside the vehicle.

The suspect surrendered to officers and is in custody.
