September 29, 2024

An old telehandler equipped with an even more questionable platform overturned in West Philadelphia earlier this month, killing one of the three occupants and seriously injuring the other two. The three men were brothers,

The incident occurred on September 6 when the three were apparently working on installing new air conditioning units at a height of around 15 to 16 meters when the telehandler – a 17 meter long Pettibone 10056 – tipped sideways and the fully extended boom fell downwards a parked delivery truck.
One man, Tuan Vuong, 47, the eldest of the three, was completely unresponsive and died on the way to hospital. The other two were in extremely critical condition. One of the two – Wei Vuong left the hospital on September 13, while his brother Nguyen remains in a coma. The three men worked for the family business Vuong HVAC, which was contracted by Smart Builders to carry out the work. Tuan Vuong leaves behind his wife and three children aged one, six and nine.
