Eagles player receives NFL drug test request after loss to Buccaneers despite being inactive for game

Devin White did not play for the Philadelphia Eagles in four games this season. White was sidelined with an ankle injury and was a healthy scratch this season. For personal reasons, he did not travel with the Eagles for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Since White wasn't in Tampa, he obviously didn't play. However, that didn't stop White from applying to the NFL for a drug test. After Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers, White posted on social media a request for a performance-enhancing drug test that he received from an NFL official after the game.

White has since deleted the post. Interestingly, he was selected for a random drug test because he was inactive. White probably wouldn't play on Sunday even if he traveled with the team (he was inactive in the three previous games before that).

White also caused some controversy over “X” during the game when he retweeted a play where Lavonte David forced a fumble against Jalen Hurts in the third quarter. David was White's teammate on the Buccaneers, but the Eagles are his current employer.

White tried to explain the situation when a Buccaneers reporter noted the situation. The retweet was also removed.

White's future with the Eagles has been in question since Nakobe Dean beat him out for the starting linebacker job, and could be addressed at that pace during the bye week. The Eagles' defense struggled in three of the four games without White, but Dean and Zack Baun remain the starters at linebacker for now.

There is a possibility that White will never play a game in an Eagles jersey.
