WAILUKU – The Gen Korean BBQ House restaurant at 80 Ho'okele St. in Kahului has had someone break windows three times, according to Conan Paik-Rosa, the store's regional district manager, and video security evidence.

At approximately 4:46 a.m. on Sunday, September 29, more windows were broken at the Gen Korean BBQ House. The vandalism has prompted the company to offer a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.

Rosa said the company contacted Maui police on all three occasions and they are working on the case together.

Security footage from inside the store on Sept. 29 shows a person dressed in black, wearing a hood and wearing a mask, approaching the store's main windows. The person stands at the storefront for a minute before banging on the window with an object, causing it to shatter. The person then runs away from the scene.

Security footage from the early morning of September 23 shows a hooded and masked person approaching the restaurant around 5:24 a.m. The person waits a minute before walking along the front door window and hitting it with an object that breaks the window.

“We would like to offer a prize that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. “While we have camera footage, we cannot capture a clear image of her face.” said Rosa. “It’s the same person all three times.”

Anyone with information about the vandalism can contact The Gen Korean BBQ directly at 808-429-2806, on their Instagram account @genkoreanbbq or the Maui Police non-emergency line at 808-244-6400. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the Maui Crime Stoppers hotline at 808-242-6966.

According to a press release, the restaurant's grand opening took place on Thursday, September 26th.

“Due to proven customer demand and the strong performance of our existing Hawaii locations, each generating approximately $6 million to $8 million in annual revenue, we are pleased to add our Maui location to GEN’s growing restaurant portfolio.” David Kim said this in a press release on Thursday. Kim is Co-CEO of GEN. “The opening of our new restaurant follows the great success of our Oahu location. With affordable prices, an extensive protein-focused menu and our cook-it-yourself dining model, we look forward to welcoming our guests to our newest location.”
