Horrifying murder-suicide discovered in Austin apartment

Austin police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after two bodies were discovered during a welfare check in northwest Austin on Tuesday.

Officers responded to an apartment complex in Austin around 2:33 p.m., more than two hours after the initial 911 call. When they entered the apartment, they found 25-year-old Hannah Kang and her husband, 34-year-old Youree Kang, 34, deceased.

The incident occurred earlier in the day when a family member applied for a welfare check at 12:16 p.m. after being unable to contact the couple for 24 hours. About an hour later, the relative called authorities again and reported that she was at the scene. She noticed the couple's vehicle was present but there was no response at the door.

According to police, investigators believe Youree Kang may have killed his wife before taking his own life. Authorities emphasize that the incident appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Austin Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. Further details may be revealed as the investigation progresses.
