Victim of fatal traffic accident identified near Jordanelle State Park

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah – The body of a 61-year-old man was discovered Thursday outside the gates of Jordanelle State Park. The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office believes the death may be related to a road rage incident.

Officials said the body was found on the side of the road outside a car in the Rose Creek Trailhead area near the state park.

The road traffic incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Although a suspect is still at large, it is not believed there is an immediate threat to the public.

Authorities are still searching for the second vehicle involved in the possible altercation, which could be a Jeep Gladiator or Jeep Rubicon.

“We are calling on the people in the second vehicle to come forward. The sooner you come forward to deal with the situation, the better,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office has since identified the victim as Patrick L. Hayes of Hideout, Utah. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
