Can 750 eggs a week harm you? A Harvard student's experiment shows surprising results

Last updated:

His LDL dropped 2% in the first two weeks.

In his YouTube video, he mentioned that he consumed around 133,200 milligrams of cholesterol in more than a month.

Doctors often prescribe the consumption of eggs, but sometimes consuming too many eggs can harm a person. People may have different opinions on this matter. In a recent development, a university student experimented to find out what happens to a person if they consume too many eggs. The person reportedly consumes about 750 eggs per week. He conducted blood tests to determine the effects of eating so many eggs. The result surprised everyone. Tell us about this interesting story in this article.

Several studies have previously shown that eating too many eggs can significantly increase cholesterol levels, which often leads to heart disease. To test this, Nick Norwitz, an MD student at Harvard University, consumed around 720 eggs. He nursed an average of 1 egg per hour. He expected that taking the test would cause his LDL (low-density lipoprotein), known as “bad cholesterol,” to rise significantly. However, this was not the case.

In his YouTube video, Nick mentioned that he consumed around 133,200 milligrams of cholesterol in more than a month. Surprisingly, his LDL dropped by 2 percent in the first two weeks of maintaining this egg diet. In the last two weeks, his LDL level fell significantly by 18 percent. According to media reports, Nick's LDL level was around 90 mg per decimeter before this experiment began.

The Harvard student further mentioned that in the last two weeks, he decided to add some nutritious foods to his diet. It included fruits such as blueberries, bananas and strawberries. “The extra dose of carbs dominated the insane amounts of cholesterol I was consuming,” he mentioned in his video. Additionally, Nick said he also consumed 75 grams of saturated fat and about 5,000 milligrams of dietary cholesterol per day. The American Heart Association recommends consuming no more than 6 percent saturated fat.
