Domestic Incident Leads to Arrest | Lincoln Parish Journal

Ruston police arrested a local man last Tuesday after a woman reported a domestic violence incident.

Jamiel Harrison, 36, of Ruston, was arrested at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 after officers met with the alleged victim at her home on West Barnett Springs Avenue.

The woman told officers that she and her boyfriend of six years, Harrison, had a verbal argument that turned into a physical altercation when Harrison choked her in front of her two children. She said when she started calling police, Harrison fled on foot.

The officer saw scratches on the woman's neck and upper chest area.

Harrison was found walking on Maple Street and taken into custody. He said he was trying to keep the woman away from him during the argument when she punched him in the face. Officers reported no evidence to support Harrison's claim.

He was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on domestic violence involving strangulation and on an outstanding warrant out of Ruston Municipal Court. His bail was set at $4,500.
