Maine police are investigating the murder of a Biddeford man

Maine law enforcement is investigating the shooting of a man in Biddeford last week.

Biddeford murder victim died from gunfire

Gene Dares, 46, of Biddeford died of gunshot wounds, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police were called to Foss Street in Biddeford on Friday evening

Biddeford police were called to Foss Street just before 11 a.m. Friday night for a report of shots fired in the area. When first responders arrived, they found an injured man and attempted to render aid. Despite their efforts, Mr. Dares died at the scene. His body was transported to the chief medical officer's office, where the cause of death was determined. The death was ruled a homicide.

Maine police say there is no particular threat to the public

Maine State Police are now assisting Biddeford Police in the investigation. There have been no arrests so far and police have not commented on a motive. Officials say there is no known specific threat to the public.
