Boston teachers stage citywide election campaign to fight for more funding in schools – Boston 25 News

BOSTON – Boston teachers are planning a citywide protest march Monday morning to fight for more funding in schools.

They demand full federal funding for public schools and support a fair contract for public school staff in Boston.

Since the beginning of this school year, BPS's 8,000 educators have been working under an expired contract, according to the union.

They said educators were frustrated by months of stalled contract negotiations. They want a contract that prioritizes “true inclusion” with fair wages, particularly for paraprofessionals who they say make as little as $30,000 a year.

Monday's walk-ins will take place at 15 schools, including TechBoston Academy, Lee K-8 School and Sumner Elementary School.

Around $200 billion in Covid relief funds for education are running out across the country.

Massachusetts received $2.5 billion.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
