MANGALURU: Amid reports of misconduct and paper leaks during ongoing proceedings SSLC Summative Assessment-1 examination across the state, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has made significant changes to prevent such incidents.
It is suspected that questionnaires were passed on to students social media before the exam.

SSLC Summative Assessment-1 exam

The exam began on September 24th and is scheduled to end on October 1st. N Manjushree, chairman of KSEAB, told TOI that there were allegations that question papers were leaked to students before the SSLC exam. It was reported in the Davanagere District, and the respective BEO has registered one Police complaint. Initial investigation revealed that it was not a recent SSLC question paper but an old question paper available on one of the YouTube channels.
“However, the investigation will clarify the allegations,” Manjushree said. “All activities such as the expiry of questionnaires, MalpracticeTaking and sharing photos or sharing them on social media is prohibited. Action will be taken against such people,” says Manjushree.
To curb malpractices and prevent paper leaks, the KSEAB has introduced a new measure wherein the question papers will be published on the school's registration portal on the day of the exam itself. The board is also considering changing exam times. Manjushree explained that the question papers for the next day's exam were made available online a day in advance.
Uniform questionnaire
“From Monday, question papers for the last two exams will be released online at 6am, just a few hours before the exam,” she said.
To standardize the SSLC examinations across the country, a uniform questionnaire was created and distributed through school registrations.
Given that many schools are in rural areas where downloading and printing exam papers could be a challenge, there have been calls for a change in exam timings. The exams currently start at 10 a.m.
