Denver murder suspect arrested in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Police say a murder suspect from Denver, Colorado has been arrested in the capital.

According to LPD, 30-year-old Zachary Rice was arrested Sunday night around 8:15 p.m. following a disturbance in the area of ​​17th and Washington

According to police, officers were dispatched there on a report of a disturbance involving a private property accident.

“Officers contacted multiple individuals and one male provided a false name,” LPD reported. “As officers continued to question the man, he eventually gave his real name and said he had warrants for his arrest.”

Police said Rice pushed officers away and fled the area on foot. A Nebraska State Patrol helicopter was called to help officers search for Rice. LPD says Rice was soon found near 20th & A and taken into custody.

According to police, Rice had a warrant out of Denver for his arrest because authorities considered Rice a fugitive from justice.
