Bowen Yang says Sydney Sweeney wanted 'SNL' to make boob jokes

Bowen Yang praises Sydney Sweeney, who hosted Saturday Night Live already in March.

In a September 25 episode of David Spade and Dana Carvey Fly on the wall Yang described Sweeney on the podcast as the kind of “host who came in already understanding how she was being consumed and perceived,” which made the writers' job much easier. “She came and said, 'Please everyone joke about my breasts.' “She basically begged everyone,” Yang remembers.

Carvey shared that he didn't think it was a “surprise” that Sweeney “was good, but it's just good when everything kind of comes together right on a show, because it can easily go the other way.”

Sweeney agreed to star in several skits that solidified her status as a Generation Z beauty queen, including “Bowen's Straight,” in which Sweeney is seduced by Yang, who is secretly straight. SNL Actress Heidi Gardner encourages Sweeney to pursue her crush because Yang “only plays gay on the show because it's a shortcut to laughter.”

Before recording “Bowen's Straight,” Yang recalled visiting Sweeney's dressing room to “let them know, 'We're getting an intimacy coordinator, and if you feel uncomfortable at any point, you can listen in.' If we make out and hate you.' It's no problem.'” Sweeney simply replied, “'Bowen, I'm in.' euphoria.'”

Yang remembers Sweeney telling him, “You're living every gay man's dream by having sex with me.” Fire Island Star thought, “How do you know?” She knows that she has such great sexual powers that anyone would be thrilled to simulate sex with her. It echoed his comments to Stephen Colbert in August that Sweeney “knows she has all the men under control.”

Shortly after Sweeney's SNL Episode in which Yang appeared Late Night with Seth Meyers, where he told the sketch comedy show's former head writer that he still feels “a little straight” after playing the romantic counterpart to both Sweeney and Gina Gershon. “I think I understand why Austin Butler was talking like that Elvis for a while after the movie,” Yang joked.

Some criticized the show for containing several skits that revolved around Sweeney's physical appearance, particularly after she made comments diversity The month her episode aired, it was about the “weird relationship people have with me that I have no control or control over,” which she says leaves her “no longer on a human level.” level is”.

One particular sketch that stoked anger was about Sweeney earning hundreds of times more tips at Hooters than her colleagues, played by Chloe Fineman and Sarah Sherman. But if anyone was responsible for sexualizing Sweeney, Fineman said in May Fly on the wall Look, it was her.

“I pitched her the Hooters idea,” Fineman said, “and then she DM'd me to write it, and then we got in so much trouble for sexualizing Sydney Sweeney, for example.” “But,” joked Fineman in a suggestive accent, “here it was your pervert!”
