Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua He wasn't expected to face the same result as his highly anticipated showdown against the IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois Earlier this month in London. Nobody – absolutely nobody – saw it coming, not even Joshua's sparring partner. Ty Mitchell.

While some had speculated that Dubois could pull off an upset, few suspected how he would pull it off. The 27-year-old Brit pushed forward fearlessly throughout the fight, unfazed by Joshua's renowned strength. Dubois scored knockdowns in the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds and finally ended the fight with a knockout in the 5th round, successfully defending his IBF title.

The crowd at Wembley Stadium was on its feet, watching a shocking turn of events unfold before their eyes. While Mitchell felt the fight could have gone either way, he backed his sparring partner, who caught Dubois with a powerful shot early in the fight. However, “Daniel Dubois certainly looked the part [AJ] could have thrown him or hit him with a sledgehammer… He looked like he wouldn't be turned away…” Mitchell said.

Joshua's sparring partner expressed that he wanted Joshua to win because of their work together, but claimed: “[Dubois is] a nice child. I’m happy for him.” When asked about Joshua's next move, Mitchell expressed his unwavering confidence in his prediction. “I bet he’ll go for a rematch. I think he should go for a rematch.” he said.

The sparring partner suggested that if Joshua wants to fight again, he should prioritize a rematch to clear his name before assessing the situation. “I think knowing AJ, he’ll be happy to play it back and clap back.” Mitchell added. This prompted the reporter to ask Joshua's sparring partner for a prediction for the potential rematch.

Regardless of what Dubois did to Joshua, Mitchell suggested the fight could go either way. Interestingly, this won't be the first time Joshua has chased down one of his defeats.

The Dubois loss was surprising, but it wasn't Joshua's first defeat. In June 2019, the 1.80 m tall heavyweight suffered his first career defeat against Andy Ruiz Jr. Although Ruiz initially looked bad in the fight, he came back from a 3rd round knockout, knocked Joshua down in the third round and twice in the seventh round, and won the fight by a 7th round knockout.

In December of that year, Joshua returned for revenge with a new strategy in mind. While in the rematch it could be argued that Joshua was hiding behind his jab and Ruiz had become overconfident and lethargic, Joshua managed to secure a unanimous decision victory. However, he wasn't so lucky Oleksandr Usyk.

In September 2021, Joshua fought a duel with “The Cat” and suffered his second defeat by unanimous decision. Nine months later he tried his luck again against Usyk, but the result was in Usyk's favor as he won the fight by a split decision.
