Someone recreated the classic hare and tortoise story in real life and the video is going viral

Remember the classic Aesop's fable Tortoise and hare? Well, several people decided to bring the story to life in unexpected ways. A video of the recreated version of this story went viral on social media.

The clip shared by an Instagram user shows a real tortoise and a hare preparing for the race as their owners hold them at the starting line. Viewers cheered as the two animals prepared to recreate the classic race in the video.

The fable tells the story of a cocky hare who, convinced of his speed, challenges a slow-moving tortoise to a race. But suddenly the hare becomes complacent, takes a nap halfway through, and wakes up only to find that the tortoise has won.

True to the original story, the hare raced ahead but went off course just before the finish line, while the tortoise, in typical fashion, kept up his pace and emerged victorious.

It's proof that some stories never get old.

As expected, social media users weren't shy about sharing their reactions in the comments section of the post.

“If the hare had won our entire curriculum would have to be rewritten,” said one user, while another added: “Now I believe in the story of the tortoise – the hare lost.”

One of the users said: “The turtle knows how to carry on; The rabbit doesn’t even notice that it’s still racing.”

The viral video, much like the fable, is a reminder that slow and steady actually wins the race – at least when the hare isn't careful!
