The contractor is accused of taking $18,000 and not performing any work

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WFIE) – Madisonville police have charged a man with theft after they say he took money for a contract job and didn't complete the work.

Randall Brown was taken to prison over the weekend.

According to police, the victim received a check for $18,500 from her insurance company after her roof and fence were damaged.

She says she made an agreement with Brown to do the work and the check was deposited directly into his account.

The victim says she asked Brown every day if the check had been cashed, but he kept saying it hadn't.

After more than twice the time that bank officials thought it should have passed, the victim asked Brown for a bank statement.

According to police, the $18,500 was in Brown's account and multiple transactions were made at Bally's Casino.

Meanwhile, the victim says no work has been done on her roof and fence.

Brown is charged with theft.
