Bethenny Frankel relies on biodynamics with her new wine brand

Bethenny Frankel's entrepreneurial pursuits have evolved from her passions and she is now the owner of a biodynamic wine brand.

Frankel, who first rose to fame as one of the original cast members of “The Real Housewives of New York City” and then became an entrepreneur with brands like “Skinny Girl” cocktails and wine, is delving deep into the world of biodynamic wines with the release of her first wine dipped French Rosé, Forever Young.

“The wine is fantastic and made by a castle owned by a woman,” says Frankel. “It’s absolutely delicious.”

Forever Young's initial debut was a Côtes de Provence rosé made by Chateau Robine.

Her focus on biodynamic wines grew out of her own interests. “It’s more natural and healthier,” she says. “There are some wines, even organic wines, and there can be a lot of crap in them and you don't feel good the next day. There is a drastic difference in quality.”

Frankel says she chose rosé because that's what she drinks. “I know red wine is more respected, but I don’t drink red wine,” she says. “It feels like drinking syrup, and that’s my brand. I only work with what I’m passionate about.”

Her next wine is a Cru Classé Rosé. “Cru Classé is a type of wine that you can't do that much with, and it's only made in about 18 wineries in the world,” says Frankel. “It’s a more elite rosé variety.”

Frankel's Forever Young brand also adds a Sauvignon Blanc from Pay d'Oc, also made by Château Robine.

While Frankel is currently promoting the two rosé wines, her Sauvignon Blanc is expected to hit the market soon. “It has a green floral background instead of pink, and it's amazing,” says Frankel. “There is no rosé distribution yet as we are still focused on expanding its distribution and then we will add the Sauvignon Blanc.”

Frankel says she decided to focus on the wines that she personally enjoys. “I love Sauvignon Blanc, but Rosé is so feminine and has become a year-round wine,” she says. “There are really a lot of well-marketed rosé wines. They're really bougie and branded, and they're good, but they're not as good as Forever Young. You can put it side by side and it’s phenomenal.”

Frankel is not only promoting her new wine brand, but also her non-alcoholic cocktail line, Mingle.

“It happened very naturally,” Frankel says. “About a year or so ago, I was in my kitchen with my assistant and we were trying Mingle and my assistant was like, 'Wait a minute, this tastes like the real thing.'” I thought that too, and we totally freaked out.”

Frankel promoted Mingle online and then they reached out to her and now she owns part of that company too. “It’s immediate,” she says, from companies and products she likes. “You just know you really like it, it hits you and you go.”

When it comes to Mingle, Frankel says what excites her most is that it tastes different than anything else out there. “It doesn’t taste like soda, it tastes like its own very different drink than kombucha,” she says. “It’s great for people who are sober and curious, and it means they can choose their own adventure in terms of taste.”
