Improperly secured toddler killed in accident, suspected impairment

On September 28, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m., troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 146 near Public Boat Ramp Road. A five-year-old child was killed and a ten-year-old child was seriously injured in the accident.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 Toyota SUV, driven by 31-year-old Jordan Burton of Homer, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 146.
