Community activist speaks out on increasing violence following Butchers Hill incident

A 66-year-old man was brutally beaten and left unconscious on the street during an attempted robbery in Butchers Hill.

The brazen crime was caught on camera and is extremely difficult to watch.

One suspect was arrested but later released due to his age.

Community activist Arch Mckown joined FOX45 Morning News to comment.

“I felt sick when I saw it,” Mckown said of the video.

“There is a palpable sense of fear and lack of safety on the streets,” he said.

He continued, saying most of this is due to youth “running around and committing violent crimes.”

Mckown called on Gov. Wes Moore to fire Secretary Vincent Schiraldi.

He said taxpayers will spend about $340 million in 2025 on this agency, “an agency steeped in secrecy.”
