A “wolf pack” in Spain accused of raping three women, including a disabled friend, faces a 200-year prison sentence – as twisted details emerge

The members of a so-called “wolf pack” (La Manada), who are accused of raping three women in Spain, face a combined prison sentence of almost 200 years.

Prosecutors are seeking 196 years in prison for five men who allegedly assaulted three women in 2021 before recording a fourth woman having sex with one of the men without her consent.

The footage was later shared in a WhatsApp group between the men, it is said.

In court documents obtained by the respected newspaper La Vanguardia, prosecutors accuse the men of using social media to attack young women who “had low self-esteem.”

After gaining the victim's trust, they proposed a meeting at the apartment of one of the defendants in Castelldefels, Barcelona, Catalonia, according to the prosecution.

The invitation seemed less suspicious as most leisure centers and venues were still closed at the time due to Covid restrictions.

Although the women agreed to attend the parties or gatherings at the home, they were unaware of the men's sexual intentions, court documents say.

They add: “The defendants acted with the knowledge and desire to attack the sexual integrity of the young women.”

They are accused of “creating an atmosphere of subjugation in the home that destroys the victims’ ability to react.”

The prosecution claims that the defendants' actions involved a “criminal group” dedicated to “committing crimes against sexual integrity.”

The men are accused of three offenses of sexual assault with penetration and two offenses of discovering and disclosing secrets with the disclosure of personal data.

According to reports, the WhatsApp group that the accused used to select victims was central to the investigation.

Conversations recovered by police allegedly showed them mocking their intentions with the victims.

It is said that they also commented on the alleged sexual assaults after they had committed them.

In one conversation, a man tells another, “I would give you the phone number of a very dirty girl… but I don't trust her because I think she is capable of reporting me.”

According to the prosecutor's office, on April 27, 2021, one of the defendants contacted a woman he had known for years, even though he was “fully aware that she suffered from a disability.”

It is said that he invited her to the apartment, where the other defendants showed up unexpectedly.

After consuming several alcoholic drinks, the victim “reached a state of intoxication that would make it easier for three of them to rape her while a fourth watched,” despite her asking them to stop, prosecutors allege.

In May 2021, the same defendant allegedly contacted another girl via Instagram and took her to the same apartment.

After drinking alcohol, she and one of the defendants voluntarily kissed, but the situation changed when two other defendants burst into the room and one forced her to fuck him.

The woman agreed because she “feared that she would suffer a major interference with her sexual freedom,” it is said.

That same month, the men were accused of an attack on a third victim, which they recorded on their cell phones and shared in the WhatsApp group.

A fourth woman who had sex with one of the accused was also filmed without her consent and the video was shared in the WhatsApp group.

The men have been held in jail without bail since their arrest.

The public prosecutor's office is demanding 196 years in prison between the five defendants, plus 50,000 euros in compensation for the first victim, 80,000 euros for the second and 70,000 euros for the third victim.
