Authorities investigate kitten cruelty incident in Morganza

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Officers with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office are investigating an animal cruelty case that occurred Saturday morning, September 28, 2024, in Morganza, Maryland. The incident, reported around 8:09 a.m., involved a person in a silver SUV, possibly a Toyota, who was reportedly seen throwing several kittens from the vehicle at the intersection of northbound Route 5 and Route 242 .

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a deceased kitten, but were unable to locate any of the others that had reportedly been thrown from the vehicle. The exact number of kittens involved remains unclear, although witnesses said between eight and nine kittens may have been thrown from the SUV.

Authorities are asking the public for information to help them with their investigation. The Sheriff's Office has urged anyone who may have been in the area during this time and may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
