The Pixel 9a's design has been leaked without Google's iconic camera bar [Gallery]

Google's Pixel 9a is a game-changer in the design department, as new renders have just leaked featuring a flat camera module that renders a now-iconic part of Google's smartphone designs obsolete.

Since the “Tensor reboot” of recent years, Google’s smartphone design has featured a “camera bar” or “visor” on the back that houses all of the camera elements. The look has changed over the years and adapted to different form factors, but it has quickly become the most recognizable aspect of the latest Google Pixel devices.

However, the Pixel 9a will apparently do away with this.

Leaked renders (not a marketing version, but probably CAD-based) of the Pixel 9a show Google's new design, which features no camera bar but rather cameras that sit flush with the rest of the device. Similar to certain LG devices before the company's move away from smartphones, the cameras lie mostly flat on the back of the Pixel 9a. The lightning can then be seen on the right.

The design change was first demonstrated through a prototype that surfaced in late August.

No dimensions or other details about the Pixel 9a were provided in the leak published by Android Headlines after creation by @OnLeaks. Leaks of this type usually provide dimensions as well as the design, so it's quite strange that these are missing this time.

What do you think of the design change?

Pixel 9a is expected to launch in mid-2025 as one of five new Pixel devices launching next year.
